Thames Valley Alternative Learning

Thames Valley Alternative Learning is an alternative education programme for secondary school students who may not fit the mold for regular schooling, have fallen behind in class due to truancy, or may have been asked to leave due to misbehaviour.

​Students participate in a flexible, individualised program based on their academic needs. Thames Valley Alternative Learning is a transitional programme with the goal of returning the student to their secondary school.

Financial Mentoring

Free, confidential, and non judgmental support from qualified financial mentors to help improve your financial situation.

Strengthening Families

Strengthening Families is here to help bring all the right people together like support services, schools, and community groups, so everyone’s working with you to make things better for your whānau. 

Whether you’re a solo parent, grandparent raising mokopuna, teenage parent, foster parent, or part of any family type or size this service is for you.

Supervised Contact

Supervised Contact allows quality time for children to build and maintain relationships with family members from whom they are separated. ​

​Our qualified supervisors ensure that your time spent with your child or children has positive outcomes for all participants, within the guidelines set by the New Zealand Association or Supervised Contact.

​Contact is facilitated in a safe, child focused, confidential setting with trained staff supervising. During a contact visit children remain safe from physical, sexual or emotional abuse.

Grocery Shopping Service

A free service run by volunteers for anyone who cannot go shopping themselves or collect their groceries for whatever reason.

​One of our volunteers will assist you in either shopping for you or picking up an online order or click & collect. We can also provide transportation if you would like to do your grocery shopping in person.

Kids Can Cook

A cooking class for 5 to 13 year olds that teaches cooking skills, kitchen hygiene, easy to cook healthy recipes and a meal to eat at the end.

This is run every Tuesday afternoon from 5:30pm – 7:00pm during the school term. Classes are $5.00 each. To book your child please visit:

Soup & Rolls

At the Carehouse

Join us each week for warm soup and rolls in a welcoming, relaxed space. A chance to enjoy a meal, connect with others, and be part of the community.

Paeroa Volunteer Drivers

Volunteer Drivers is a service that transports clients door to door for appointments, funded by both Waikato Health and Waikato Regional Council. This is a supportive and confidential service.

Toy Library

A place for youth and whānau to play with and rent toys.
Located on the corner of Station Rd and Albert St.
Open Friday and Saturday 10am to 12pm, Tuesdays 10-12 & 3.30-5pm
